Parents need to be familiar with MySpace and make sure their kids are not involved in these activities. Many parents do not want to be the “bad guy” but in this case it might be better to be labeled as the person who set up some rules concerning the use of MySpace rather than suffer the consequences later. MySpace is a social networking site where people from all over the world can connect with each other in order to make friends. This can be a great way to meet new people, and broaden your horizons. But if your young child is using this site to meet new people, it can also be a very dangerous place. The fact of the matter is that there are people all over the world that attempt to prey on kids that use MySpace in their free time. If you have a young teen who has a profile on MySpace you need to get involved and see what is going on. Keep your kids safe from the predators that see MySpace as a way to meet victims.

While raising children it will always be far easier to be a friend to your sons or daughters but as always what the kids really need is a role model and enforcer. Someone who cares enough about their children to figure out what is going on and someone who can and will follow through with consequences.
